" ... I also visited the nursery school which was very impressive: stimulating, caring and with well-trained teachers. Feeding vulnerable children needs support
As Chiedza opens its doors to more orphans and vulnerable children (OVC), it is faced with a difficult task of providing supplementary feeding at a time when donors are facing a financial crunch due to world recession. The meal given in the wet feeding programme at Chiedza still remains the only meal of the day for most of our children. Chiedza has a total number of 800 children and feed a fluctuating 450 children per feed.

HIV takes its toll
Despite all our endeavors as Chiedza to help both children and caregivers living with HIV with medication to prolong and improve their immune system, we are still faced with painful losses of some members of the family. As of January 2009 we have lost 2 caregivers and 1 child. The HIV pandemic still remains the high cause of death in Zimbabwe and the reason for the high rate of OVC.

Support from the Embassy of the United States
We are grateful for the continuous support from the US embassy as we have received varied sponsorship from different ambassadors over the years. This year we have received 2 computers and reading books for our new resource centre and await yet another donation of dolls for 155 of our young children between the ages of 3-9yrs.

MEET OUR CHILDREN
Chiedza is currently supporting 750 orphans and 250 grandmothers who are looking after these children. Meet them
